  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a Swedish M/1835 Whitelock trials musket for the percussion trials in the 1830s. Only 400 were ever produced, and this example was manufactured by the Husqvarna Vapenfabrik arms factory. This model was never adopted, and the final model became the M/1840 percussion musket.

The stock is a light hard wood, we suspect Beech, however there is no lock on the right hand side as one would expect. Instead, it features a vastly simplified ignition system underneath the stock, which is protected by a large iron trigger guard. The nipple is on the underside of the barrel with the hammer actually being part of the very sturdy mainspring. The trigger resembles a large "hook" that engages the hammer directly and when pulled back releases the hammer to discharge the weapon. This is definitely one way to avoid issues with lock mechanics, though with no "half-cock" ability, the safety of this weapon leaves much to be desired.

The smooth bore barrel about .8" is 41" in length the Musket being 58" overall. The mounts, such as they are, butt plate and three barrel bands are all of brass. The serial number of 110 appears in several places on the Trials musket.

It comes complete with a very nice original issue socket bayonet, which is regimentally marked on the side with 20 Rfk Nr 47. It locks securely onto the front of the barrel.

In lovely display condition this originated in a very old Collection in Kansas City before it came to live with us. Ready to display!
