Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is solid example of the early 20th Century Spanish Model 1907 Artillery Bolo Knife, a short machete used as both a tool and a weapon by Artillery troops. The design is quite elegant, with a lovely curved handle and checkered wooden grip, with a heavy blade that has a recurved lower edge, most likely to make it a more effective chopping tool.

The blade ricasso has the following stamped or etched marking on the ricasso:

ARTILLERIA
(CROWN)
(CROSSED CANNONS)
FABRICA DE TOLEDO

There is also serial number 17545 stamped on the other side of the blade. There is some light wear and sharpening to the blade, however the item is still very impressive, and was made in the legendary Sword-Making city of Toledo, which has a history going back to 500 BCE, and supplied blades to the Roman Legions.

The bolo comes with its original steel fit leather scabbard, which is retained by a spring catch on the handle of the machete. It is designed so that the spring is automatically depressed when the handle is gripped correctly.

In very nice condition, this artillery bolo knife is ready to display!
