This is an extremely rare a Model 1777 Spanish Artillery saber that has lain undisturbed for almost 250 years. It features a 1/2" double sided blade marked on one side POR EL REY CARLOS III and dated 1777 on the other. It has a brass bowl guard with re-enforced knuckle bow engraved "R.A". The wood grip is damaged and partially absent on one side exposing the tang.
Uncleaned and unrestored this is a genuine "SLEEPER" straight out of the attic! Spain was also fighting the British in Florida at the time of the Revolutionary war so this falls right into the time period of America's first conflict.
