Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good original WWII Soviet RGD-33 stick grenade, retaining much of its original painted finish and carrying the distinctive 308 within a diamond factory marking on the top of the grenade head. The removable external fragmentation sleeve is no longer present.
This is a completely inert example and cannot be rendered live again. The grenade is in compliance with the BATF guidelines and regulation on owning inert ordnance and is not available for export.
This example is in good condition and retains much of its paint, but there is moderate wear across with some bubbling in the paint on the shaft. It is maker-marked on the top of the head with 308 in a diamond. This example is missing the fragmentation sleeve, which happens often as they are loose and can fall off. It measures roughly 7½” long.
The RGD-33 was used by Soviet forces before and during World War II but was mechanically complex and comparatively demanding to manufacture. Simpler grenade designs increasingly supplemented and replaced it during the war, although the RGD-33 continued to remain in service and is documented in use beyond the early phases of the German-Soviet conflict.
This example is particularly interesting for the combination of its original painted finish, intact RGD-33 head and handle assembly, 308-in-diamond factory marking, correct approximately 7½-inch dimensions, and completely inert condition. The missing fragmentation sleeve is the principal absent component, while the otherwise complete external configuration makes it a strong representative example of one of the Soviet Union's most distinctive and mechanically unusual hand grenades of World War II.
