Original Soviet Union WWII “Leaf Pattern” Derivative Sniper Smock - Dated 1943

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a wonderful example of a Soviet Sniper Smock in the lovely “Leaf Pattern” camouflage and dated 1943. While the material is worn and faded, there is no extensive damage present. The interior is dated 1943. The hood is still firmly attached, the “pocket” slits are untorn at the corners and the single button on the front is present.

In 1941 a different type of camouflage design was introduced, utilizing a printed pattern of dark leaves & twigs on a khaki-colored field. Referred to in some period literature as letniy kamuflyazh (summer camouflage), surviving examples suggest the colored overprint was likely produced in at least two variations (green or grey/brown) for wear during different seasons. Some of these uniforms were, in fact, reversible (not this example) from a green to a brown-dominant design. The issued uniform was the same MKK/MK type, and saw service well into the 1960s with some Soviet units.

A fantastic example ready for further research and display.
