Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. One of our very last! This original WWII issue Russian M-1910 Maxim was built to BATF approved specs using one of our all original Russian stunning parts sets assembled on our BATF approved steel dummy non-firing receiver incorporating most internal parts. This example looks to be mostly made up of WWII Era parts, though it may have some WWI era parts, such as the top cover, as did many of the guns the Russians used during WWII. The Wheeled Sokolov mount also has brass components, something usually only seen on earlier examples.
Features of this set include in this set are-
- All original Russian issue MG parts.
- Newly made BATF approved side plates.
- Original M1910 Fluted Steel Water Jacket
- Very early back sight with circular elevation knob which measured in "ARSHINS", later model used a more simplified MG 08 type back sight graduated in meters.
- Excellent condition Brass and Steel Sokolov wheeled mount.
Some parts of this gun must have led a romantic existence serving for close to half a century. The top cover is definitely a very early production one, with the early sight, and various different serial numbers, some of which are crossed out. There are various non-matching serial number on other parts, definitely a sign of long service. We do not see any maker marking on the top cover, so it probably had it removed at some point, possibly after Finnish capture.
This is really an excellent example, which will make a great display piece in any collection!
The PM M1910 (Пулемёт Максима на станке Соколова, Pulemyot Maxima na stanke Sokolova or "Maxim's machine gun model 1910 on Sokolov's mount") was a heavy machine gun used by the Russian Army during World War I and the Red Army during World War II. It was adopted in 1910 and was derived from Hiram Maxim's Maxim gun, chambered for the standard Russian 7.62x54mmR rifle cartridge. The M1910 was mounted on a wheeled mount (Sokolov) with a gun shield and was replaced in Soviet service by the SG-43 Goryunov, starting in 1943. In addition to the main infantry version, there were aircraft mounted (PV-1) and naval variants.
