This is a lovely WWII ATP-Marked wristwatch. The Ministry of Defence only officially ordered 133,000 from various Swiss Manufacturers in 1939, known affectionately as Tommy Watches. These predated the famous Dirty Dozen by a number of years and were used in the heaviest fighting in WW2.

This example came to us with the knowledge that it was worn by a South African soldier during World War II, but we have no documentation or provenance to back this up.

The watch still turns and functions. The back of the watch is marked with serial number 223781 as well as a Broad Arrow over ATP over 44571, its number of the 130,000 ordered from various Swiss Manufacturers in 1939.

The strap is its original strap, but does show verdigris from age and cracking in the leather. A very nice example, ready for further research and display.
