Original Item. Only One Available. This is a signed print of “The Knight at Dawn” by Jerry Crandall, signed at the bottom by Erich Hartmann, the world's top-scoring fighter pilot, who achieved 352 aerial victories during World War II, a feat that is never likely to be surpassed. Flying the legendary Messerschmitt Me109, Hartmann was invincible in the air, achieving his phenomenal success during no fewer than 1400 combat missions. The frame is gorgeously put together and the print is very clear. This is a limited run print, 1151/1250. The frame also includes at the bottom three additional signatures of Knight’s Cross Recipients.
The print is signed by the artist and Luftwaffe pilot Oberst Erich Hartmann - one of the most successful fighter ace in the history of aerial warfare. The frame measures 31 ¼ x 34 ¼” and is in great shape. It comes with a certificate of authenticity on the back. The bottom of the frame has three additional signatures under photos of the signers, all three being Knight’s Cross Recipients. They are:
- Gunther Rall - Günther Rall was a highly decorated German military aviator, officer and General, whose military career spanned nearly forty years. Rall was the third most successful fighter pilot in aviation history, behind Gerhard Barkhorn, who is second, and Erich Hartmann, who is first.
- Gerhard Barkhorn - Gerhard "Gerd" Barkhorn was a German military aviator who was a renowned wing commander in the Luftwaffe during World War II. As a fighter ace, he was the second most successful fighter pilot of all time after fellow German Erich Hartmann. Other than Hartmann, Barkhorn is the only fighter ace to ever exceed 300 claimed victories. Following World War II, he became a high-ranking officer in the German Air Force of the Federal Republic of Germany.
- Josef Priller - Josef "Pips" Priller was a German military aviator and wing commander in the Luftwaffe during World War II. As a fighter ace, he was credited with 101 enemy aircraft shot down in 307 combat missions. All of his victories were claimed over the Western Front, including 11 four-engine bombers and at least 68 Supermarine Spitfire fighters.
A very lovely print with additional outstanding signatures, ready to hang and display!
