  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely signed print of “The Gallant Foe” by Michael W. Wooten. Numbered 198 out of 1000, this is a moving depiction of an incredible act of compassion shown by an enemy pilot. Oberleutnant L. Frans Stigler, commandant of 6/JG 27, encounters a badly cripple B-17 flown by 2nd Lt. Charles L. Brown of the 8th Air Force's 379th Bomb Group and, seeing badly wounded men aboard, escorts the bomber to the channel and then flies away.

Each print has been signed by both pilots who met for the first time since World War II in 1990. A phenomenal story. The frame measures 27 x 34” and is in good shape overall, still mounted and ready to hang on the wall! This would look great in any WWII Collection. Comes ready for further research and display.
