This is an impressive framed limited edition print of Robert Taylor’s “Summer Victory” numbered 300 of 1250 and signed beneath the image by four distinguished Royal Air Force pilots who fought during the Battle of Britain: Alan Deere, Bob Doe, Hugh “Cocky” Dundas, and Brian Kingcome. The large frame measures approximately 30 ¾ x 40 ½”, and the print remains clear and in excellent overall condition.
“During the height of the Battle of Britain a Luftwaffe pilot, standing beside his downed Me109, looks on as Spitfires of 54 Squadron returning to base at Hornchurch, roar overhead.”
The print depicts fighter pilots of the RAF and Luftwaffe engaged in combat over the beautiful English countryside. The Battle of Britain, which began in July 1940, is over for one Luftwaffe pilot as victorious Spitfires of 54 Squadron roar overhead soon to return to their base at R.A.F. Hornchurch, August 1940.
