Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a M42 Paratrooper Jump Jacket costume piece or prop that was used by an actor during the filming of Stephen Spielberg's epic WW2 film, Saving Private Ryan. It is in a size 42R, has red thread on the left shoulder, an indication of a possible 82nd Airborne prop and is ink stamped U.S. SPR on the interior back right.
This jacket is offered in good condition with simulated battle damage and truly is a related part of WW2 history.
The M42 Jump Jacket was made in early 1942 for the 82nd Airborne Division and issued to the 101st Airborne in the summer and the 17th Airborne in 1943. For recruits, the uniform was olive grab and for combat troops it was khaki, with four slanted pockets oppose to the straight facing pockets of the infantry. It was used by the Airborne in combat in Sicily, Italy, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. It was eventually replaced by the M43 Jump Jacket.
Interestingly, IMA supplied many of the Machine Guns, Edged Weapons and loads of other equipment for Saving Private Ryan which was released in 1998 and set the bar for the WW2 film genre.
