Original Rare WWII Imperial Japanese Type 26 Revolver Holster with Replaced Closure Strap

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice example of a rare WWII Japanese Type 26 Revolver Leather Holster. This is one of the hardest WWII Japanese Holsters to locate, and a “must have” for the collector who is looking to complete a WWII Japanese Type 26 revolver “Rig”. These seldom come up for sale on the collectors market, as most are already paired with revolvers!

This example is in very good condition, the only issue being that the original closure strap is gone, and was replaced by a new piece of leather. The rest of the leather still exhibits a pleasing dark russet finish. The leather is still strong and mostly pliable, with tight intact stitching. Both shoulder strap loops are present. The internal ammunition pouch is complete with all loops intact for holding spare cartridges. The cleaning rod pouch is intact as well, with an original cleaning rod inside! There are no signs of dry rot, or any sign that this holster has ever had any “preservative” applied. There are date or manufacture markings under the flap, which are not completely clear. Comes ready for further research and display.

The Type 26 or Model 26 "hammerless" revolver (二十六年式拳銃, Nijuuroku-nen-shiki kenjuu) was the first modern revolver adopted by the Imperial Japanese Army. It was developed at the Koishikawa Arsenal and is named for its year of adoption in the Japanese dating system (the 26th year of the Meiji era, i.e., 1893). The revolver saw action in conflicts including the Russo-Japanese War, World War I and World War II.
