Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent unissued WWII German Sturmabteilung Wehrmannschaften (Storm Division Military Team) Aluminum Belt Buckle (Koppelschloß) with the original paper RZM Tag. It is embossed with the standard NSDAP Political eagle with straight outstretched wings. This is clutching a wreath with an enclosed mobile swas. The swas and wreath are in turn encompassed by a circular, simulated, twisted rope border with oak leaves. This example is a nice injection molded aluminum construction box buckle, which was then crimped over to form a buckle.
The back of the buckle is stamped with the ((RZM)) logo next to M4 / 22, the code for Christian Theodore Dicke of Lüdenscheid, a city with a very large clothing accessories industry. This was the ONLY company to manufacture this particular buckle, and they are quite rare. It even still has the original ((RZM)) marked paper tag, which reads:
Zweidornſchnalle
nach Vorſchrift
der Reichszeugmeiſterei
der NSDAP
This indicates that it is a "two prong buckle" made under official German regulations. There is a "C" tax code and lot number 091691 at the bottom. Condition is wonderful, and it would be very hard to improve upon. Ready to display!
The SA, Sturmabteilung (Storm Division), were originally formed in August of 1921 as a protective guard unit for the political leaders of the fledgling NSDAP Party. As with the NSDAP, "Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei" (National-socialist German Worker’s-party), the SA was structured along para-military lines. Most of its recruits were from the ranks of the various "Freikorps" groups of the day, composed mainly of disgruntled ex-soldiers, and they were first utilized at a NSDAP party meeting in Munich in November of 1921.
The Sturmabteilung-Wehrmannschaft (Storm Division Military Team) was the military training defense group of the SA and was formed in 1939. The purpose of this organization was to provide military training to SA members before and after their military service. This quickly expanded to all civilian males aged 18 to 65 years old, and by May, 1944, over 3 million Germans had participated in this program. The group also served as an internal defense unit. Originally, standard S.A. uniforms and headgear were worn until the official introduction of a S.A.-W. uniform in December 1939.
