Original Item: Only One Available. These bayonets are literally like finding Hen's Teeth today! The very hardest of all "Butcher Saw Back" Seitengewehren (bayonets) to find is this, the M-1898/02! This model is substantially larger than the M-1898/05 model that replaced it. This comes from a large collection in Europe, and is completely fresh to the market.
This example is marked on the blade ricasso CROWN / ERFURT, indicating manufacture at the Imperial Arsenal in Erfurt. The spine is proof marked Crown / W directly in front of the cross guard, for Kaiser Wilhelm II, the German Emperor. Under this is 03, indicating acceptance in 1903. There is also a regimental mark on the crossguard: R. P. I. 76.. The stylized "R" indicates this was a reserve unit, so most likely this was issued to the Reserve Pioneer Infantry regiment.
The bayonet has a very nice 16 3/4" saw Back blade, which is 1 1/4" wide at the bottom. The the cross guard has the partial muzzle ring "horns", which were carried over onto early 98/05 bayonets. Imperial proof marks to pommel, wood grips all in fine patinated condition.
Straight from long term storage, ready to add to your collection and display!
