Original Item. Only One Available. This is a scarce original German WWII double magazine pouch for the Gewehr 43 and Karabiner 43 semi-automatic rifle. Constructed from tan pebble grained rubberized webbing with leather closure straps, dark web belt loops, and a rear D-ring, it represents one of the numerous material and construction variations produced for the G43 and K43 during the later years of the war. This is only the second example of this type that we have had available.

The pouch measures approximately 8 1/2" x 4" x 1 3/4". The front consists of two separate magazine compartments, each intended to carry one detachable ten-round G43 or K43 magazine. Both compartments retain their leather closure straps and metal stud fasteners.

The principal body material is tan rubberized webbing with a distinctive pebble grained surface. This material provided an alternative to the conventional leather and woven fabric used on other G43 and K43 pouches.

The reverse is fitted with dark web belt loops. A metal D-ring is also present and retained by a leather tab, providing an attachment point for associated equipment or suspension hardware.

Collectors have developed a classification system to distinguish the numerous surviving G43 and K43 pouch variations. Within that modern system, this pebbled rubberized webbing configuration is identified as the Type 11a. The Type 11a designation is a collector reference rather than a wartime German military model number.

The pouch remains in very good condition with little evidence of use. The rubberized webbing, leather closure straps, fastening studs, belt loops, and rear D-ring are all well retained.

The Gewehr 43 was developed from the earlier G41(W) semi-automatic rifle and chambered for the standard 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge. Its short-stroke gas piston system was influenced by the Soviet SVT-40 and proved more practical than the gas trap mechanism used on the G41.

The rifle was redesignated the Karabiner 43 during 1944. It was issued as a standard infantry semi-automatic rifle and could also be fitted with the ZF4 telescopic sight for use in a marksman or sniper role.

The relatively late introduction of the G43, combined with increasing shortages of leather, textiles, and other materials, resulted in considerable variation among its magazine pouches. Surviving examples are encountered in leather, woven webbing, rubberized material, and combinations of these components.

The pebbled tan rubberized web construction, complete leather closures, and rear belt loops, make this a particularly useful example of late-war G43 and K43 field equipment production. Its materials and construction distinguish it from the more familiar leather pouches and provide a clear illustration of the manufacturing variations associated with German wartime shortages. It would be appropriate for a collection focused on the Gewehr 43, German WWII infantry equipment, or late-war substitute material field gear.
