Original Rare Austrian Type HG PL 61 Plastic Fragmentation Hand Grenade
Original Item: Only One Available. Totally inert and demilitarized according to BATF guidelines with hollow body and inert fuse. This grenade cannot be converted to an explosive device and is not available for export.
During the second half of the 20th century, the company ARGES of Austria led the world in new and innovative designs for plastic bodied hand grenades. This example is the HandGranate PL 61 (HdGr61) Defensive Fragmentation Hand Grenade. The body is plastic, and as a "defensive" hand grenade, the inside is filled with tiny metal pellets embedded in the plastic fragmentation layer inside. It was designed for a large spread of shrapnel, inflicting heavy damage on the opposing side. The Type HG PL 61 was later replaced by the HG69, the HG78, and the HG84.
The grenade is in excellent condition, with the yellow fuze and green ribbed body in like-new condition. Comes complete with the pull ring, and paint stamping on the top. Additional U.S. Military EOD markings have been added denoting the Grenade was rendered safe, along with a catalog reference number serial number added to the base.
A great opportunity to pick up a very hard to find grenade!
