Original Prussian Leather Holster for U.S. Colt M1851 Navy Revolvers with Brass Percussion “Capper” marked “K M”

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Set Available. Well this is definitely an interesting piece of German and American history! This is a very nice Prussian Leather holster, intended for a U.S. Colt M-1851 Navy percussion revolver. Many of these were sold to the Kingdom Of Prussia in the 1850's for use by their navy, then known as the Königlich Preußische Marine (Navy of the Kingdom of Prussia). The holster is very much a “bucket” type, with a securing flap on the top to keep the pistol from escaping.

It has a compartment on the side, which houses a Prussian brass percussion “Capper” device, which is marked K M on the side, for Königlich Marine (The King’s Navy). These would be loaded with percussion caps, and one at a time was held in a claw at the end, allowing multiple caps to be easily placed on the back of the cylinder after loading.

The holster is of fine brown leather construction, and we have tested to make sure that it really does house a Colt 1851 Navy revolver. In very good condition, these were made in Prussia and surviving examples are extremely rare. Colt only supplied the standard M-1851 .36 caliber Navy revolvers for this one delivery.

VERY RARE and ready to display!
