Original Pre-WWII Czechoslovakian Unit Marked Officer's Sword by Wlaszlovits Štos with Scabbard - dated 1927

Item Description

Original item: Only One Available. Just received out of a large sword collection, this is a very nice example of a Pre-WWII Czechoslovakian Officer's sword, complete with it's original scabbard. The sword and scabbard were both originally fully nickel plated, however the plating on the scabbard and the guard has patinated, with oxidation and finish loss on the scabbard.

The guard looks to be made of brass, an bears the Czechoslovakian "Lesser" Coat of arms embossed into the designs on it. The hilt has a nice shark skin shagreen covered wood grip, with quadruple wire wrapping, the central pair twisted together.

The ricasso of the nickel plated blade is marked with H, followed by the "Czech Lion" proof and 27, for 1927 production. The other side of the ricasso is maker marked:

WLASZLOVITS
(T S LOGO)
ŠTOS

Above this is a Czechoslovakian unit marking, 301 D 11, which we are unfortunately unable to decipher. There are also small maker markings stamped into the brass guard.

Overall condition is quite good, with a lovely aged patina on the scabbard. The nickel plate on the blade is almost completely retained, and the hilt is solid on the tang.

A very nice example of a European Pre-WWII Officer's Sword.
