Original Pre-revolution Pair of French Flintlock "Muff" Pistols by Leonard Cramon of Bordeaux

Item Description

Original Items: One Set Only. Well these are amazing, now fully cleaned, we are told by our antique armorers that this little pair of French Flintlock Pistols are some of the very finest quality they have ever encountered.  Only 5 1/2" in overall length, each has a "cannon" barrel of just 1 1/4" in length.

These pistols are fitted with "hidden" triggers that only appear when the weapons are cocked. Tastefully engraved quite minimally, each has a bag shaped walnut grip bearing beautiful carved plant engravings and inlaid with Silver wire inlay. Each pistol is fitted with a small oval Silver Escutcheon plate containing what is a family
symbol or initials  which we cannot identify.

The pistols are signed on the underside of the frame directly behind the screw-off barrels:-  CRAMON, BORDEAUX  who worked in the city from 1766-1786.

Clearly the property of some Aristocrat who possibly lost his head in the French Revolution or "REIGN OF TERROR" that started in 1789.

Adorable and ready to display.
