Original Items. One-of-a-Kind. This is an interesting Pakistani medal bar with five medals from the Cold War period. The medals are mounted onto paper and were likely meant for a shadowbox or similar display.
The medals include:
- Pakistan Tamgha - Instituted to celebrate the emergence of Pakistan on 14 August 1947.
- Tamgha-e-Jang 1965 War (War Medal 1965) - A war medal and was awarded to the Armed Forces personnel who were in service during the period of hostilities during the 1965 war.
- Tamgha-e-Baqa (Nuclear Test Medal 1998) - Instituted to celebrate the successful testing of a nuclear bomb at Chagai.
- Jamhuriat Tamgha (Democracy Medal) - 1988 - Instituted to celebrate the return of democracy in Pakistan.
- Tamgha-e-Salgirah Pakistan (Independence Day Golden Jubilee Medal) - 1997 - Instituted to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Pakistan.
The Pakistan Tamgha medal is rim-engraved: 3039214 HAV SHAKI MOHD 8 PUNJAB R.. The full name is likely Hav Shaki Mohammad of the 8th Punjab Regiment. The 8th Punjab Regiment was a regiment of the British Indian Army from 1922 to 1947. It was transferred to Pakistan Army on Partition of India in 1947 and merged with the Baluch Regiment in 1956.
