Original Ottoman Silver-Mounted Bichaq Dagger with Matching Scabbard - Circa 1800

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a truly wicked little dagger with a single edged, lightly decorated blade of just 7" long, and overall length of 11 inches. It is fitted with a Silver Hilt, also engraved and heavily embossed. The pommel has two "wings" which surround an inlaid green stone. Comes complete in its Silver covered, again heavily embossed and decorated, wooden Scabbard entirely covered in foliage and flower motifs.

This style of Dagger is referred to as a BICHAQ, which was very popular in India during the 17th Century, and expanded its popularity to the Middle East and Balkans during the reign of the Ottoman Empire. 

Overall length in Scabbard is 14 inches.
