Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Well this is just striking! This authentic flintlock holster pistol dating from about 1810 is fully silver encased with highly embossed silver plates. The grip is swathed in navy blue corded velvet and the face of the lock is smothered in embossed decoration cut into the steel. The steel barrel is 12.5 inches long; the pistol is 19.5 inches in overall length.
This pistol presents wonderfully and is one of the best examples of its kind we have ever handled. The silver is stunning and this will be a credit to any collection.
This type of flintlock pistol was in use throughout the Mediterranean from the Pirates of Tripoli in North Western Africa right around the southern shore, through Libya and Egypt, up through the Levant, what are now Israel, Lebanon and Syria, and throughout what is now modern day Turkey. This was all the Ottoman Empire that existed from the 15th century until it's collapse in 1918 with the end of World War One.
Drop dead gorgeous, ready to display and 100% authentic.
