Original Item. Only One available. Introduced in 1859, this bayonet was then used with the M-1860 Infantry Rifle, the 1867 Remington Rifle and the 1876 Krag Pertersson rifle, only requiring slight modifications to fit each. While the rifles became obsolete, the same is not true for bayonets, so they were often refitted to fit the next generation of firearms.
With a heavy blade of 22 1/2" and overall length of 28", this is a very impressive bayonet! It features a brass pommel, wood beech wood grips with long catch spring to tension the bayonet catch. It has a simple brass crossguard with muzzle ring, and a single fullered slightly curved "Yataghan" blade. The ricasso is marked both sides with maker and proof marks.
