Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. These are very uncommon pistols on the market, and we have only ever seen a few. This is a very nice Norwegian Model of 1831/1846 Percussion Converted Cavalry Pistol fitted with a 10 1/2" 0.63" barrel with an overall measurement of 18". It features all brass mounts of butt cap, trigger guard, side plate and nose cap. Comes complete with ramrod, and the lock plate and side of the barrel are both marked with serial number 283. We understand these were made at the Arsenal of KONGSBURG in Norway, and the CROWN / K marking is visible on the lock plate and cap bolster.
Our example is absolutely text book, with an overall length of 18 inches. The iron lock is fitted with a "Dog Catch" as a safety measure allowing the pistol to be totally secured whilst being fully loaded. It has the remains of the Regimental Markings and is in excellent cleaned and restored condition. It does show some wear, and there is a crack on the right fore stock. The butt cap is loose, and the adjacent end of the trigger guard is broken off at the screw. There are also additional markings and proofs on the lock plate and barrel, which we cannot decipher.
BEST OF ALL, as it this pistol was already cut for the addition of a Military shoulder stock that attaches to the iron grip tang, we are able to INCLUDE the iron attaching bracket from just such a shoulder stock, so all you need is the wood! We have not had one of these before, and it is unlikely we will again.
A rare Military Pistol, with full military proofs and a butt stock fitting. Ready to Display!
