Original Naval Block & Tackle Pulley with Brass Wheels & Iron Hook Supposedly from CSS ALABAMA - Circa 1860

Original Item: One of a Kind. This is a very nice naval block & tackle pulley, with two brass wheels and iron hook dating to about 1850, measuring about 16 1/2 inches in overall length. The end beards a brass plaque stating REMOVED FROM CSS ALABAMA. Built at Birkenhead, England for the Confederate Navy, this ship became the scourge of the U.S. Navy. For almost two years she sailed all over the world attacking the interests of the North American administration. Finally in June 1864 she came up against the USS Kearsarge, and the Alabama was terribly damaged taking her out of the war.
With absolute provable providence showing its use/presence on the Alabama, the value could exceed $ 10,000.00. However without it and with only hearsay and some engraving it must be treated as novelty/curio. A great topic for conversation and for its new owner to brag about!
