  • Original Item: Only One Available. This is a most interesting sidearm, issued during the period of National panic that Napoleon and his hordes threatened to invade England. The great Naval Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 pretty much ensured that Napoleon's Invasion would never happen but Great Britain maintained its County militias for many more years until Napoleon's final defeat at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.

This example is from Devonshire on England's South Western Coast the sword is marked DEVONSHIRE M somewhat worn, with issue number on the underside of the cross guard. The 24.5" curved blade makes this sidearm almost a cutlass and bears a Broad Arrow marking over an "I". The hilt including the ribbed grip is all brass, the scabbard is absent. A very interesting Militia Sword circa 1800.
