Original Model British 18th Century 24 Pounder Cannon with Carriage Made Using 19th Century Pistol Barrel

Item Description

Original Item: Only one available. This is a wonderful little model cannon, based on an 18th Century British 24 Pounder made in 1770. There is a partly torn photograph tacked to the right side of the carriage, which shows the cannon this model was based on:

THESE 24 POUNDER GUNS WERE
CAST IN ENGLAND IN 1770.
MONOGRAM OF GEORGE THE 3RD
FROM THE WOOLWICH ARSENAL
Presented by the British Government
1910

There is also a small No. 42 tag on it, which we are not sure the meaning of, but it could mean that this was part of a series of model cannons made at some point, using old flintlock and/or percussion barrels. It definitely shows a relatively high level of construction, and many of the parts look to be factory made, so this was not made by a hobbyist just throwing things together.

Very interesting and full of research and display potential!
