Original Item: Only One Available. A kindjal (translated from the Russian Кинжал) is a double-edged dagger often with a single off-set groove on each face of the blade. The shape of the weapon is similar to the ancient Greek Xiphos, the Roman Gladius, or the Scottish dirk; and has been used as a secondary weapon in Georgia and the Caucasus since ancient times.
This is an impressive middle eastern dagger from the Ottoman or Russian empires, probably dating to the early 1800's. It features an evil double edged blade of 8", mounted in silver wire inlaid grip, probably made from horn. It is clad with engraved silver hoops and silver "kindjal" reminiscent pommel. The base of the blade also overlaid with intricately engraved silver panels. All housed in matching decorated brown leather scabbard inlaid in brass with brass wire scrolling bands to the front.
A very eye catching dagger so beautifully constructed. This would make a striking addition to any collection!
