Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. We have been jokingly referring to this piece as the “Spaghetti Western” the last few weeks here at the IMA office, a tongue-in-cheek reference to the classic European produced Western Films of the 1960s!
This is a Mid-Century, circa 1950s-1960s Desk Lamp which was made to exude a Western Theme using non other than a revolver commonly found on the surplus market during that time period; an Italian Bodeo Model 1889! The Bodeo in this case is an original marked “Glisenti/Brescia/1896” on the left side of the frame. Externally, the revolver appears intact, with a hole drilled to allow a cord up from the backstrap of the grip up through the barrel. The action of the pistol appears to have been lightly welded to prevent operation.
The solid wood base features a cast iron removable ashtray, and a horseshoe which serves as a stand for the revolver. The finial for the lamp shade bracket is an inert Bodeo 1889 Cartridge! The lamp is in functional condition (we tested it), and we were told it was rewired in the early 2000’s.
Quite a conversation piece!
