Original Late Cold War Flag of the Commander in Chief of the Navy Soviet Navy dated 1989 - 44" x 67"

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice late Cold War / Soviet Collapse era (1989 dated) Soviet Flag of Commander in Chief of the Navy Soviet Navy. Previously known as the "Flag of the naval minister" from 1950 until 1964, this wonderful canvas or linen flag measures 44 x 67 inches, the perfect size for a Cold War Wall display.

The flag is white, with a blue bar on the bottom, representing the ocean, with a wheat wreath in the center, which has a red banner wrapped around it with lots of Cyrillic writing on it, which we have not been able to translate. In the middle of the wreath is a globe with the Soviet "Hammer & Sickle" inside. There is also a red soviet star at the top of the wreath, and a "Sun" at the bottom. Definitely a very attractive design.

The colors are retained very well, and overall it is in very good condition. There is a tear in the fabric near the header, as well as age toning, but otherwise it is in great shape. The original nylon halyard is still sewn into the header, with loops at the top and bottom.

The reverse side of the flags header is marked 1989г (год or year), indicating manufacture in 1989. The header is also marked with other words in Russian, which we have not been able to translate.

A lovely flag, right from around the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union, ready to display!

NOTE: Alligator clips pictured are not included, and were only used to hang the flag.
