Original Late 19th Century Ottoman Empire Turkish Brass Artillery Parade Helmet

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice late 19th Century Ottoman Empire Turkish Artillery Parade helmet, from what were the waning days of the Empire. Only a few decades remained before the empire, first founded in 1299, would collapse in the wake of the First World War. Even before that, the empire had been in decline for many years.

The helmet itself is much in the style of British Cavalry helmets of the Victorian Era, even down to the "Lion's Head" chin scale attachments. Unfortunately, the chin scales themselves are missing, as is the entire liner.  The helmet comes with a plume for display, but it is definitely not original to the helmet. It is only resting in the top fitting, and not directly attached to the helmet.

The front of the helmet has two cannon in the center of the helmet plate, the universal symbol for artillery, amidst Arabic writing above and below. This is surrounded by a love leaf designs, topped with a Lion's head.

A very attractive late 19th century artillery helmet, ready to add to your collection!
