Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a very nice Italian flintlock pistol of overcoat size. The rear portion of the steel barrel is fluted and clearly marked L. LAZARINO, for maker Lazaro Lazarino. The lock is also marked by maker G. Banchi. The pistol was made in the gun-making region of Brescia, Italy between 1790 and 1800.
The pistol features all steel mounts beautifully embossed and carved in relief, with the hardwood stock also chiseled and carved to match. It is relatively slender, measuring 12 inches in overall length, with a 7 inch 0.55" bore barrel. It also has what appears to be walrus ivory nose cap and ramrod tip. We were not able to remove the ramrod, so we do not know if it is functional or ornamental.
Condition of the the pistol is very good, though it does show age. There is definitely wear to many of the mounts, as well as some small cracks and other minor issues. The front nose cap also looks to be partly held on by transparent tape wrapped around the muzzle. The lock functions correctly, holding at half cock and firing at full, though it takes a heavy trigger pull to get it to fire.
A most attractive Italian flintlock pistol from Brescia. Very nice and ready to display!
