Original Item: Only One Item Available. This is an excellent condition, WWII issue Japanese Model 30 Arisaka rifle bayonet manufactured by Matsushita. This was the 2nd most prolific private contractor for these bayonets. It comes complete with a lovely steel scabbard and a converted frog for use by the Republic of Korea during the Korean War.
This bayonet is of the mid war pattern, with a straight contoured cross guard, rivet retained contoured wrap around grips, a flat "bird's head" pommel, and blued steel blade. Matushita National Denki ceased production of these bayonets before the late war period, so they did not make any "last ditch" style bayonets. The base of the bayonet is marked with serial number 00123, interrupted by the series marking. The spine of the hilt has what appears to be (3) Kanji characters painted in white, which we were unable to translate.
Condition of bayonet is good, with lots of the original finish and only light wear from storage and the scabbard. There is a bit of runner wear on the blued steel blade, which still has the original factory "blunt" edge. The wooden grip scales are in good condition, and the scabbard has a great finish and only light wear. The frog is solid with the retaining strap still present. The body of the scabbard itself does have some rather extensive paint loss, but is otherwise presented without any extensive damage.
We very rarely see examples in this great condition. This would pair perfectly with any excellent condition Arisaka rifle.
