Original Japanese WWII Type 92 Field Phone in Case with Crank - Dated July 1945

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of the standard WWII issue Japanese Type 92 field telephone in its original wooden case. The telephone is complete with its handset, speaking piece, crescent wrench (spanner), and the often missing crank handle. The spare speakers are both missing from the cup on the bottom lid, and the small loop handled screwdriver is also missing. The Wood case is sound, showing normal age and wear, with a data plate on the front cover. The lid locks in position properly, and the front portion of the body will unlock and pivot forward, revealing the internals for maintenance and battery replacement.
The data plate and schematics on the inside of the top lid are still fully intact, and indicate on the far right that it is a 九二式電話機 (Type 92 telephone). The schematics are inscribed BILLY HOVIS, certainly the name of the American soldier who captured this on the Pacific front. The front of the case also has a date plate giving the maker information and a production date:

Which translates as:
Tokyo First Army Arsenal
Manufactured in July 1945
No 75478
This is one of the latest manufactured examples we have seen, being manufactured one month before the dropping of atomic bombs in Japan brought about the end of the war. The unit has not been function tested and we cannot guarantee it is fully operational and able to use as communications equipment. Measures approximately 10 ⅝ x 4 ¼ x 6 ¾”.
