Original Japanese WWII Type 100 Display Submachine Gun Serial 4275 with Bayonet & Display Magazine

Item Description

Original Item: Only One available. Just purchased from a private collection, this is a very nice Inert Display Sub Machine Gun, built from all original parts on an original BATF approved display receiver. It has properly had a portion replaced entirely with solid steel bar stock, and the original barrel deactivated by welding up the chamber. The trigger still pulls, and the safety still works. It also comes with the original recoil sling and deactivated bolt, which has had the bolt drilled out. Inside the receiver is a solid steel dummy bolt to give it the correct look.

The Type 100 submachine gun (一〇〇式機関短銃, Hyaku-shiki kikan-tanjū) was a Japanese submachine gun used during World War II and the only submachine gun produced by Japan in any quantity. It was made in two basic variants referred to by American and British observers as the Type 100/40 and the Type 100/44, the latter also known as the Type 100 (Simplified). A small number of the earlier version were converted into using folding stock, sometimes referred to by the Allies as the Type 100 Navy, which was made for parachutists.

This example is correctly marked 一〇〇式 on the rear receiver cup, and is marked with the Nagoya arsenal mark next to serial number 4275. The bolt, muzzle brake, bolt, and other components bear shortened number 275, so this was most likely an all matching machine gun before deactivation. Condition is very good, though it does show the relative crudeness of Japanese late war production, especially with the two piece butt stock.

The included bayonet is a late war Japanese Type 30 Arisaka bayonet, in the "last ditch" configuration with a square bottom wooden scabbard. It bears the markings of Jinsen Arsenal in Occupied Korea. The display magazine included with the display gun is a modified British Sterling magazine, which approximates the curved look of the correct magazine. It does not lock into the magazine well, and is again for display only. The internals will be removed if sent to a state where prohibited.

These are exceedingly rare, and this is the first example we have ever had!
