Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is an exceptionally rare inert demilitarized genuine Japanese WW2 sling grenade. This grenade was simply named by Allied forces as a “Sling Grenade” due to the method of throwing. Known as the Taisho 7 (1919) was WWI grenade design. The Taisho era began in 1912, so in the Japanese date system 1919 would be the seventh year of the Taisho era, or Taisho 7.
The design consists of an iron body that measures approximately 4 inches in length, with friction fuse to the top (missing). The base has an affixed rope section measuring 18 inches in length which would be used to swing or sling the grenade further than a simple throw. Very few examples of this model grenade have ever come to market. In fact this WWI style version was later modified for safety reasons during World War Two which resulted in the removal of the rope tail.
The grenade is totally inert and unable to be rendered live again. It is in complete compliance per the BATF guidelines on inert ordnance. Not Available For Export.
