Original Japanese WWII Service Worn Rising Sun Army War Cloth Flag (31" x 28")

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. The Rising Sun Flag (旭日旗 Kyokujitsu-ki) design was originally used by feudal warlords in Japan during the Edo period. On May 15, 1870, as a policy of the Meiji government, it was adopted as the war flag of the Imperial Japanese Army, and on October 7, 1889, it was adopted as the naval ensign of the Imperial Japanese Navy (Naval flags have the sun off center to the left). With the sun in the center, this is a flag of the IJA (Imperial Japanese Army).

This is a very nice service worn one piece rising sun flag that measures a nice 31" x 28", and looks to be made of cotton or linen. It is in somewhat delicate condition, with tears and a somewhat tattered look, as it apparently was hanging for quite some time. This has resulted in a great aged look, which is just impossible to duplicate. A truly unique flag from WWII.

Certainly a USGI bring back from World War Two!
