Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very scarce WWII Imperial Japanese unit history for the “Philippine Expeditionary Force”. The book showcases the status of the Philippines at this time and goes great lengths to depict the American military as being decimated by the Japanese, bragging about capturing their weapons while depicting a photo of a pile of practice bombs. It depicts American POWs. The book was published as a propaganda piece to support and commemorate the endeavor. This example was ironically captured by an American soldier who inscribed the interior cover:
T/S C.M. Huber 33244888
H+S Co. 3rd Eng. Bn. (C)
Found on Jap truck
2mi. West at Palo
This identifies the captor as Technical Sergeant Charles Merle Huber, Headquarters & Supply Company, 3rd Engineer Combat Battalion. Huber served overseas from June 7th, 1943 until December 18th, 1945, seeing heavy combat. He found this book on a Japanese truck two miles west of Palo, Leyte, Philippine Islands.
An outstanding example with a period capture inscription, ready for display!
