Original Japanese WWII Marshall Islands Type 89 Knee Mortar Trench Art Ashtray - 1944

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Set Available. Totally non-functional and inert having been demilled according to specifications outlined by the BATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives).

This is an original Japanese WWII Type 89 Grenade that was taken by an American soldier during WWII as a souvenir of the war. He painted it red and black and wrote MARSHALL ISLANDS 1944 across the top along with two Japanese flags, then mounted a removable brass cigarette holder and ash tray to the top.

This is a classic bit of WWII Pacific Theater trench art that is becoming so hard to find these days and adds a bit of color and conversation to any WW2 collection.
