Item Description
Original Items. Only One Lot Available. This is a great lot of Japanese field gear from World War II, including a scarce late-war glass canteen.
The items in the lot include:
-Rare Late-war Japanese glass canteen with original harness & carrying strap. These were made in the very last day of WWII, when access to the required metals was virtually gone, so glass was used for a time, before the move to more crude clay earthenware. Original harness and crudely made strap. Missing the cap.
-Japanese Civil Defense helmet made from pressed paper, original paint retained with no liner or chinstrap. This is a scarce helmet to find in any condition given the construction.
-Japanese ID Book with many stamps & an original dog tag in the pocket. Great research project!
-EMPTY Comfort Bag imon-bukuro: Comfort bag was a gift packet prepared by civilians to be sent to Imperial Japanese Military soldiers for the purpose of encouraging them. The bag contains comfort articles not issued by the Japanese Military, such as toiletries, dried fruits, canned foods, and letters of encouragement. Bags were prepared by schoolgirls or local patriotic women's societies. These activities were also made in Korea, which was then under Japanese rule, to encourage Korean soldiers in the Imperial Japanese Military.
A great lot of field gear, ready for further research and display!
