Original Japanese WWII Damaged 8x62 Trench Periscope Binoculars with Matched Transport Case - Dated 1940
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice set of WWII Japanese 8 x 6.2 degrees Rabbit Ears Trench Scope (Periscope) Binoculars, which have a bit of damage. The aluminum upper yoke has split at the screw holes on one side, and is currently loose, but could be glued. The binoculars come complete with original matching serial number 3218 aluminum case, with both original leather pack straps still attached to backside. The case also still has the aluminum inner case flat tray insert (scarce to have as usually always missing from these scope sets), and 2 spare tinted lenses still in their small round cases. The tripod connector is unfortunately not included.
The case also still retains the original data plate, which shows a WWII date: 月 十 年 五 十 和 昭 . This would be read right to left: SHO-WA (current reigning emperor) JUU-GO NEN (15th year of reign - 1940) JUU GATSU (10th Month - October). The Case measures approximately 15" x 7" x 6", and binoculars are approximately 11 1/2" x 6" x 4".
Everything appears to be in very good condition, except for the damage mentioned before. Optics view through the binoculars on both sides looking downrange at a distant objects clear and crisp on both sides. All scope adjustments operate smoothly and correctly. Both the trench binoculars and hard case wear bear original WWII factory paint and factory matching serial numbers.
A very nice set, ready to display!
