Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very good original Japanese WWII Type 30 Arisaka bayonet manufactured by Toyoda Automatic Loom. It is a mid-war production example with a straight contoured crossguard, rivet-retained wraparound wooden grips, flat bird’s-head pommel, and blued steel blade. It comes complete with a matching-style steel scabbard showing only moderate age and service wear.
The base of the bayonet is marked with serial number 58003, interrupted by the series marking. Condition of the bayonet is very good, though it definitely has seen some sharpening and use after production. This has worn a little of the bluing off near the edge of the blade, however it is sharpened the length of the blade's edge. There is also wear to the original blued finish from use and cleaning, but the blade is covered in oil and is well-preserved.
The scabbard is also very good, with only a few small dents and finish loss, and no real rust or other wear.
The combination of the Toyoda Automatic Loom wartime manufacture, serial 58003, simplified straight-crossguard configuration, riveted wooden grips, surviving blued finish, and very good steel scabbard makes this a strong representative example of the Type 30 as produced during WWII. The visible sharpening and associated finish loss are the principal condition issues, while the intact wartime configuration and clearly attributable Toyoda manufacture remain its strongest collector features.
