Original Items: Only One Set Available. Constructed of a rich medium brown leather, this helmet is offered in excellent condition. This is an extremely scarce Japanese Navy M-30 Flight helmet, with a clear data tag on the interior. All straps are fully functional, all the buckles and tabs work perfectly. This is often considered to be the most sought-after Japanese flight helmet of the WWII era.
The data tag has the formatting for the year and month, and this information was written on the tag at one point, but it is now far too worn to read, so we are unsure of the year of manufacture of the helmet, or the size, but it is roughly a size 7⅛. The helmet is in good service-worn condition overall, but there is some stitching loose in spots, and the leather shows heavy overall wear.
The helmet retains its extremely soft lining. Included with the helmet are classic cat eye goggles as worn by Japanese Army Pilots during WWII. Maroon aluminum frames with brown velvet face pads. The elastic headband strap is original and complete. Clear glass lenses are excellent. Offered in overall excellent condition.
A wonderful set that will be a focal point of any WWII Japanese aviator collection. This is the first M30 flight helmet we have ever offered, and we don’t know when we’ll find another example.
