Original Italian WWII Royal Italian Naval Ensign Flag - 44” x 67”
Original Item: Only One Available. The national flag of Italy, often referred to in Italian as il Tricolore, is a tricolor featuring three equally sized vertical pales of green, white and red, national colors of Italy, with the green at the hoist side, as defined by article 12 of the Constitution of the Italian Republic. The Italian law regulates its use and display, protecting its defense and providing for the crime of insulting it; it also prescribes its teaching in Italian schools together with other national symbols of Italy.
This flag, which was adopted for use in 1861 during the proclamation of Italy, had multiple uses. This was flown as a State Flag, State & Naval Flag. It features a vertical tricolor of green, white and red, defaced with the Arms of Savoy and Crown. The naval ensigns are defaced to distinguish themselves from the flag of Mexico.
The flag is in service used condition, and measures a nice displayable 44” x 67”. There is slight staining, areas of fading, discoloration and small tearing present. This was a flag that saw definite use and was flown proudly for many years.
