Original Item: Only One Available. This is a great example of a WWII Italian Mountain Trooper's oversize aluminum canteen, complete with cup. Additionally, these were issued in the North African campaign due to their large size. The Canteen, cup, and all metal fittings are aluminum, making this a very light canteen, and also very resistant to any type of corrosion in the field. The large size was great for mountain troops, as they were often far from where running water could be found. This capacity also worked very well in North Africa, due to the heat and scarcity of water in the field.
The canteen and cup are in excellent condition, with no issues or major dents that we can see. The cork washer in the cap is still intact, without any degradation due to age and wear. The wool covering is also excellent, with little to no wear, and no moth damage that we can see. It is very possible that this particular example was never issued in the field.
This is a great Italian Mountain Trooper / North African canteen with cup. A fine addition to any WWII Italian collection.
