  • Original Item. Only One Available. Reparti d'assalto ('Assault units') were formed in the summer of 1917 by Colonel Bassi, and were assigned the tactical role of shock troops, breaching enemy defenses in order to prepare the way for a broad infantry advance. The Arditi were not units within infantry divisions, but were considered a separate combat arm.

This is a gorgeous example of the Adriti “Pugnale” knife, with a lovely 6⅞” blade with the correct 1½” fuller at the ricasso. The blade appears to have been sharpened heavily over the years. The crossguard is in good order and is still tight. The wooden grip is held in by two rivets on each side. The inbetween on one side is a bit hollow. The knife is 10⅞” overall.

The 7⅝” leather scabbard is in good shape with a retained belt loop held in by four large nails/rivets and two very small nails. It is closed off at the end with a small metal piece. The blade still fits it very well.

A good service-worn example of the very scarce Arditi trench knife. Ready for further research and display.
