Original Italian WWI / 1920s Officer’s Uniform Tunic & Breeches by Nello Cambi of Genova

Item Description

Original Item. Only One Available. This is an extremely scarce Italian uniform set which bears two gorgeous knotted epaulets. There are two stars on the red collar, and a maker’s tag on the interior reading NELLO CAMBI of Genova. Both the tunic and breeches are in great shape, and will make for a fantastic WWI Italian display.

The uniform has six buttons on the front which attach into the other flap instead of on top, to “hide” the buttons as is standard on these tunics. All buttons are retained and in good condition. The red felt collar has two star devices affixed, with the collar lining still complete. The epaulets are gray with a red base, with gray and blue rope knots which appear to resemble epaulets of the period, however of this we aren’t certain. They are definitely original to the uniform, so they may be from the 1920-1926 period. There is a spot with two stitch marks above the left breast pocket for a medal bar. There are single bullion stars stitched onto both cuffs, denoting the wearer’s rank, Sottotenente, or 2nd Lieutenant.

The breeches are in fantastic condition, with a red stripe running along the length, showing that they are matching to the tunic, which has a red collar and epaulets. The breeches retain their full tightening straps at the legs, and all buttons and straps are retained. This is a gorgeous matching uniform set, dating from Late World War I into the very early 1920s. Definitely a set worthy of further research!
