Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice totally inert non-firing BATF compliant excellent condition RL-83 Blindicide 83mm Antitank Rocket Launcher which was issued to the Israel Defense Forces in the 1960s-1970s. It has correctly had a bore width hole drilled through the side, and has a welded-in cross pin near the center joint, making it 100% legal to own without a license of any kind. The hinge on this example was broken long ago, so the launcher does not properly fit together anymore. The pieces still sit together for display. As deactivated ordnance it is NOT AVAILABLE FOR EXPORT.
All pieces are offered in fair condition, showing some wear from storage, but it no longer breaks down correctly. The launcher is in two pieces as the hinge has broken apart rather aggressively and could not be fixed. Although the hinge is broken, the bottom latch still functions, so the launcher will sit as one piece for display, but due to the hinge breakage, both sides are at an angle. We checked the monopod leg and it is fully functional, the blast shield installs correctly, and the front and rear sights still work. One of the small windows on the blast shield is missing its glass, and on the other the glass is cracked. The original sling is intact as well. It does not retain any of its Israeli data plates, and is only marked with a date of 10 - 1953 with what may be a serial number, 199. Definitely some good research potential here!
The RL-83 Blindicide is primarily an antitank rocket launcher, but other rockets can be fired. It was produced by Mecar SA of Belgium and was an improved derivative of the M20A1 Bazooka. Its name translates to "armor killer", derived from the French "véhicule blindé" (armoured car) and the suffix -cide meaning to kill. The RL-83 version was used by the Israel Defense Forces IDF in the late 1960s and early 1970s during the Six-Day war and the Yom Kippur War.
