The Moroccan version of the Arab Jambiya dagger is locally called Koumaya and characterized by a slender blade, usually dual edged at its lower half and single edge at the top. There is a big variety in the decoration styles and quality of the handles and scabbards. This one is circa 1880-1900, of a good quality, with a 9 1/2 inches blade, fine engraved silver scabbard with typical symmetric design with side loops. The hilt of carved wood with chased and engraved silver fittings. Overall very good condition, with small damage the wood hilt.
