Original Item. Only One Available. The ON-M99 telescopic sight was issued to Iraqi Army personnel as a sniper sight and was usually mounted on PSL, Dragunov SVD, Tabuk, Al Kadisa and Al Quds sniper type weapons. This example was likely captured by an American G.I. during the Iraq War.
The ON-M99 has a magnification power of four, a 6-degree field of view and has a range finder reticle. The reticle's rangefinder is based on the height of a standing man. With the use of this rangefinder, the ON-M99 can then be adjusted by a 'ballistic drop calculator' (BDC) cam to match the trajectory of the 7.62x38mm cartridge out to 1,000 meter. Beyond 1,000 meter, the reticle has hash marks for aiming at 1,100, 1,200, and 1,300 meters. The scope has an adjustable sun shade. The scope is made from a one piece aluminium tube and has a gloss black anodised finish. The scope is attached to a one piece integral detachable side mount. The scope has turrets for windage and elevation.
This example shows heavy field use, and the optics are unfortunately now very cloudy, and you aren’t able to see much more than faint colors when looking through it. The scope is also missing its data plate next to the adjustment wheel, which would have read the designation ON-M99. The top of the scope is marked with serial number 0102160 over the translated text MADE IN IRAQ.
A lovely captured piece, ready for further research and display.
